What to know about new Apple iPhone 15: Expected release date, features, and more

The rumor mill is buzzing with talk about Apple's newest iPhone and its features. And while Apple has not officially announced what those features are, they most likely will in September, when Apple annually announces new phones.

Last month at the Worldwide Developers Conference, also known as WWDC, Apple CEO Tim Cook announced a number of Apple devices and apps such as mixed reality headset for $3,499, new mental and vision health features to the Apple Watch, the addition of FaceTime to Apple TV, voicemail transcription, improvement to predictive text and much more.

What are the iPhone 15 features?

According to 9to5Mac, the iPhone 15 features include the following:

  • All models will have a USB-C charger
  • More screen, slimmer bezels on all models
  • Dynamic Island on iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, a redesigned notch at the top of the screen that takes up less visual space
  • Titanium finish on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • A new A17 bionic chip
  • A periscope lens for the iPhone 15 Pro Max for better optical zoom for the rear-facing camera

When is iPhone 15 coming out?

According to 9to5Mac, Apple has had a pattern of releasing new phones mostly around September but have occasionally gone as late as November. There have been reports of issues with the supply chain, which could delay phone production, the release date or that Apple may just release fewer phones.

The new iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max come with larger screens and less black border, which have caused assembly issues, according to reporting by The Information.

How much will the iPhone 15 cost?

The iPhone 15 prices will go up a bit. MacRumors obtained a research note from Tim Long, an analyst with Barclays, who projected the iPhone 15 to cost at least $100 more than the iPhone 14. Here are Long's price estimates:

  • iPhone 15 − $799
  • iPhone 15 Plus − $899
  • iPhone 15 Pro − Up to $1,099
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max − Up to $1,299
