Feeling the heat, Dropbox dials up the value
(MoneyWatch) The business of offering Internet "cloud" services is getting competitive. Google (GOOG) has introduced Google Drive, Microsoft (MSFT) overhauledits SkyDrive offering, and theinnovative new Cubbyalso has arrived, just to name a few of the huge changes in the online storage space in the last few months.
Perhaps feeling the pressure, Dropbox has amped up its offerings in a way sure to please professional users who need massive amounts of online storage and are willing to pay for it.

If you already have a "pro" plan, you'll find that your storage has doubled without any changes to the subscription fee. If you're new to Dropbox, you also get to take advantage of the old rate, but you get more storage space than ever. Here's what you need to know:
- With Dropbox 100, you get 100GB of space for $10/month ($99/year). This is an increase from 50GB on the old pan at the same price.
- With Dropbox 200, you get 200GB of space for $20/month ($199/year). This is an increase from 100GB on the old plan at the same price.
- Dropbox has added a new plan: Dropbox 500, for $50/month ($499/year). that offers 500GB of storage.
This is a tremendous deal, and radically changes the economics of subscribing with Dropbox, which until recently was one of the more costly services.
