Standing room only? France's Deezer joins packed U.S. field

French music-streaming service Deezer has been around nine years, but with limited availability in the U.S. That changed this week, with the service now an option for all for 10 bucks a month after a 30-day free trial.

That said, whether Deezer can make inroads in an already saturated market remains to be seen, with Sweden's Spotify around domestically since 2011, and Apple's Apple Beat signing up 15 million subscribers in the year it's been around, the Wall Street Journal noted.

Up until Tuesday, Deezer was only available to AT&T Cricket Wireless customers or on Bose and Sonos speaker systems, according to published reports.

The company already has about 6 million subscribers in 180 countries, including some in the U.S.
