Behind Shegog, Division II-member Delta State dominates Mississippi Valley State in 35-7 win

CLEVELAND, Miss. (AP) — Patrick Shegog threw for 254 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 90 yards and a score and Division-II member Delta State beat Mississippi Valley State 35-7 on Saturday.

Shegog threw a 13-yard score to Todd Lee Battle to give the Statesmen (3-0) the lead for good at 12-7 with 10:55 left in the third quarter. After a Nick Herber field goal, Kelvin Smith sealed it with a 52-yard scoring run with 1:17 left in the third.

Delta State outgained the Delta Devils (0-2) 510-156.
