National Pi Day 2024: Get a deal whether you prefer apple, cherry or pizza pie

Thursday, March 14 is National Pi Day, a time to celebrate the number that represents the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter.

The number is known as π, the first letter of the Greek word "perimetros," which loosely translates to “circumference,” according to PiDay.org.

Pi, which is typically rounded down to 3.14, can actually go on forever. The most accurate value for Pi, according to Guinness World Records, is more than 62 trillion digits (62,831,853,071,796 to be precise), calculated in August 2021 by the University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland.

But Pi Day is about much more than just a number. It's also about scoring some great deals on actual pie, pizza pie and other treats. Looking for a sweet discount on perhaps the nation's nerdiest day? USA TODAY has you covered.

When is Pi Day? Get deals to add to your celebration

You don't have to be a whiz at math or science to celebrate National Pi Day. For the first Pi Day on March 14, 1988 at the Exploratorium in San Francisco, former physicist Larry Shaw led a celebration with fruit pies and tea.

Subsequent celebrations – spurred by the 2009 passage by theHouse of Representatives of a resolution marking March 14 as National Pi Day – have gone on to include all kinds of pies and pizza pies, too. Here's some deals to celebrate National Pi Day.

7-Eleven: National Pi Day deals

Members of the popular convenience store chain's 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards loyalty programs can get any large pizza for $3.14 in 7-Eleven, Speedway and Stripes stores on Thursday, March 14. (Limit one per transaction, two per day.)

That deal is good on the 7Now Delivery app, too. Plus, get free delivery with a purchase of $15 or more and get $14 off your purchase of $30 or more using the promo code PIDAYDEAL. (Limit one offer per customer, limited pickup and delivery area.) 

The deals hit as 7-Eleven has brought back its Extreme Meat Pizza with pepperoni, Canadian bacon, beef crumble and bacon bits.

Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza & Wings has $3.14 pizza

Get a 10-inch cheese pizza for $3.14 with any beverage purchase on Thursday, March 14, at Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza & Wings.

BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse: Mini pizza Pi Day deal

Get a mini one-topping pizza for $3.14 on Thursday, March 14, at BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse.

Blaze Pizza Pi Day deal: 11-inch pizza for $3.14

You can get an 11-inch pizza for just $3.14 at Blaze Pizza, which has more than 300 locations nationwide, for National Pi Day. The in-store only offer is good all day at participating Blaze Pizza restaurants across the U.S.

Burger King: Sundae Pie special for Pi Day

Burger King's Perks Week for members of its Royal Perks loyalty program started with the arrival of daylight saving time and continues with a National Pi Day special and more:

• Thursday, March 14: – Pie for breakfast? To celebrate Pi Day, enjoy a free Hershey’s Sundae Pie with a $3.14+ purchase all day long.
• Friday, March 15: Recharge anytime with this all-day deal. Enjoy a morning boost or a midday pick-me-up with a free large Vanilla Iced Coffee with a $1+ purchase.

California Pizza Kitchen Pi Day deals

Members of California Pizza Kitchen's ​CPK Rewards loyalty program can sign up and get a $3.14 pizza (choose from the Original BBQ Chicken Pizza, Pepperoni, or Traditional Cheese), with a $25 minimum purchase. Current rewards members will find this offer in their digital wallet on March 14.

And if you buy any two California Pizza Kitchen frozen pizzas starting Wednesday, March 13, you can get $3.14 back (while supplies last). Redeem the refund through the Ibotta app.

Casey's has a $3.14 National Pi Day deal

At Casey's locations on Thursday, March 14, on Pi Day, when you buy any large pizza, you can get a small pizza, breadsticks or wings for $3.14 with promo code PIDAY.

DiGiorno's Pizza Rescue Program for Pi Day

Starting on Pi Day, March 14, through April 11, if you get a damaged pizza from a delivery or carry-out fail, you can upload an image to DiGiornoPizzaRescue.com (or get the link in DiGiorno's Instagram bio) for a discount on a DiGiorno pizza.

Artificial intelligence-enabled pizza technology will assess the amount of damage your pizza encountered and unlock a digital coupon (0-30% damage, get $1 off; 31%-60% get $1.50 off; and 60%-100% get 2% off). You can redeem the coupon, which expires on May 9, 2024, at a grocery or supermarket (must be 18 or over, while supplies last; limit one coupon per mobile device. DoorDash Pi Day deals on Godfather's and Giordano's pizza

Starting on National Pi Day through Saturday, March 16, DoorDash will be giving 50% off any pizza (with a minimum purchase of $3.14) from Godfather’s Pizza or Giordano’s using promo code PIDAY2024 at checkout.

Goldbelly: Get 31.4% off pies

Food ecommerce platform Goldbelly is offering 31.4% off all pies through National Pi Day on Thursday, March 14 (the promotion began on March 9). Options include desserts such as Apple Pie Baked in a Paper Bag from Wisconsin's The Elegant Farmer to pizza pies including Lou Malnati Pizza’s Deep Dish Pizza from Chicago.

Tombstone and New Belgium Voodoo Ranger pizza beer
